External education is a broad term that encompasses a variety of teaching and learning methodologies known as home study, correspondence education, or independent study. It is a very welcome move toward bringing education to individuals who want to pursue higher education but are unable to do so owing to a lack of funding or time. The external education system meets the educational needs of distant learners who have been engaged in service, business, or working in other professions and have dropped out of the education process. In India, overseas education opportunities at the university level have risen dramatically.
Recently, there has been a surge in national awareness of the need of higher education, as traditional systems have been unable to meet the growing demand of students. As a result, the spread of higher education through external modes is gaining global recognition and approval as an effective and convenient method of reaching the unreached. The Government of India has expressly declared that degrees/diplomas/certificate courses obtained through external means shall be recognized as comparable for a variety of purposes, including employment in conventional / traditional systems.
These students were unable to enroll in regular classes for a variety of reasons. These outside registered students were responsible for learning at home. As a result, in order to improve the quality of their education and reach out to a larger segment of society, such as the working service class, housewives, working women, and educationally backward students with aspirations for education, the university aiming at social inclusion has opened its doors to them by proposing a center for external education.
To provide educational facilities for external learners:-
1) To offer educational resources to a greater number of outside students across a range of age groups. 2) To integrate members of the underprivileged segments of society into the mainstream and help them seek education. 3) To the female demographic within society who has continued to be marginalized due to social constraints and household duties.
4) To all societal groups, regardless of caste, gender, religion, place of birth, social class, or economic standing. 5) To continue being adaptable in terms of administrative and academic matters. 6) To convey knowledge and offer chances for higher education, especially to the underprivileged members of society.
7) To housewives and working professionals who lack direct access to in-person instruction. 8) To provide courses with sophisticated technology in education through LMS as well as self-instructional materials (SIM), contact sessions, counseling services, libraries, and the internet.
